How it Works
8 Steps to Windshield Repair
- Inspect the chip for damage and loose debris. In addition to hidden cracks & voids.
- Apply the base over the chip & insert the Glasweld Zoom. Now its time to pull a vacuum to expel air from the chip.
- The Zoom is ready for resin to be injected into chip via the pit of the chip or in rare cases, drilling a hole to provide an entry point.
- Leave the Zoom in place for 5 minutes, allowing the resin to penetrate the entire chip/crack.
- Remove the injector from the windshield & apply a dot of pit resin to fill in the initial impact point. It is also covered with a mylar tab to promote curing.
- Whether with a UV light or natural sunlight, the technician now allows the repair to cure, usually taking about 5 minutes.
- The tab is removed & the repair site is scraped down to become flush with the glass.
- The final step is to clean the area & apply pit polish to the chip to optically match the windshield.
